Our mission is to help people take their next step with Jesus. It does not matter if this is your first time to engage with a church or if you’ve been following Jesus for years, everybody has a next step.

Connection Groups

One of our values as a church is:

Dependency: our plumb line is God’s Word, our power is God’s Spirit, our posture is prayer, and our practice is to do life together.

That last part is really important. It is our belief that for us to grow in our faith, we’ve got to live life together with other people who are following Jesus. This is why we do Connection Groups. Our Connection Groups meet in different homes around our city on different nights of the week. The purpose of these groups is for us to gather on a weekly basis in a smaller group (10-15 people) and share a meal together, dig deeper into what we’ve been studying on Sunday mornings at church, pray for each other, encourage each other, challenge each other and have fun building relationships with each other.

Baptism

At The Commons, you will often hear us say,

“Jesus is the main thing and always will be. We don’t mean to oversimplify it but it really is that simple. If you come to our church, you’re going to hear a lot about Jesus. It’s His life, death, resurrection and return that sets us free from sin and sets us loose to discover our purpose.”

Jesus changes everything! When we place our faith in Christ, we cross over from death to life. Baptism is something we do that symbolizes this crossover. Baptism is how we go public with our faith and show the world our commitment to follow Jesus.

If you have placed your faith in Jesus but have not yet been baptized, we would love to walk you through that next step.

Serve

One of our church values is:

Urgency: we give and we go sacrificially, boldly and fast.

We never want to slow down and we never want to become complacent. We always want to be moving forward and growing the kingdom of God.

Every single one of us has a part to play. In fact, 1 Corinthians 12:7 says that each of us has been empowered by God to serve the church. Ephesians 4:11 says that we all have a part in “building up the body of Christ.”

Membership

At The Commons Church, membership is a commitment to fully embrace God’s vision for the local church and your God-designed role within God’s church. Membership matters because the Church, the body and bride of Christ, matters. As we say often,

“There is no such thing as a healthy body part that is not connected to the body (both receiving from and contributing to the body).”

Our Membership process is simple. It includes attending 2 sessions that are an hour and a half long, as well as an online Membership application that will be reviewed by one of our elders (or designees).
